I lost my best friend of 7 years to meth. We used to sneak out together, party- typical harmless teenage antics. However she always had a different mind about drugs to which I could never relate. Drugs werenÕt my thing. During her sophomore year of high school is when she tried meth for the first time. She dabbled in it and other drugs here and there, but it wasnÕt until she had a child at 16 and was abandoned by the father that she began to quickly slip into the black hole of meth addiction. I watched her go from a voluptuous young woman to a size zero that more resembled a skeleton. Circles appeared beneath her eyes, and bruises and sores on her skin. Suddenly she began to despise those who loved her simply because they wanted to help. I was one of the last people to see her besides her circle of meth addicted, criminal friends. She had a crazed look in her eye, one that could only come from days without sleep. I drove her to put money on her boyfriendÕs books in jail and she passed out in mid-conversation with me. After that she abandoned me as well and was evicted from the little apartment that she paid for with money she earned at a local strip club. They had stopped letting her work because of her obvious drug problem. She now lives on the streets, and hasnÕt contacted any family. I miss my friend, and I would do anything to go back and stop her from trying meth for the first time. That is why you should never try meth...not even once.
