REAL STORIES

"Clearly, Colorado is being killed ...We're on our knees right now."

Edward Kubo Jr.
US Attorney, State of Colorado

Age: 29

Location: Denver, Colorado

I did Meth and crack when I was 18. I don't even know how I started but I knew I had to stop when I spent 4 straight hours smoking from either a glass pipe or a broken light bulb. I would even get mad when I shared my light bulb and somebody else would burn the bottom of it. One day I was not allowed to go to my aunt's house because I was so high my aunt said my eyes looked like they were going to jump out of my head. I overdosed and never went to the hospital. Everyone around me had an intervention with me saying that I would be dead to them if I did not go and get help. I went and got help and have been sober for 8 years. I thank god every day for putting stubborn people like my family in my life that forced me to open my eyes. Although at the moment I hated them I now understand why they stayed.
